There are two types of removable dentures: complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth but also prevents other teeth from shifting.
A complete denture may be either “conventional” or “immediate.” A conventional type is made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed, usually taking 8 to 10 weeks. During this time, the patient will go without teeth.
Immediate dentures are made in advance and immediately placed after the teeth are removed, preventing the patient from being without teeth during the healing process. Once the tissues shrink and heal, adjustments will be necessary.
We provide various types of dentures and materials to cater to different needs:
The process of making dentures typically takes approximately 5 appointments over the span of 2 weeks. However, the number of appointments and the overall time depend on several factors, such as the need for teeth extractions, additional procedures, and the requirement for healing time.
Removable dentures can become loose over time. If the condition of the denture is good, they can be refitted to give a tighter feel. This is a more economical and time-saving option compared to making new dentures.
Dentures can crack or chip due to impact or wear and tear. Minor repairs can be done to increase the life of the denture until a new one is made.
